Right Way To Care For Your Skin

The amount of melanin in your skin determines its tone. The more melanin you have, the darker your skin complexion. Palomar Community College explains that the difference in skin tones is a result of human migration and adaptation to tropical and non-tropical environments.

Melanin body types have greater sun tolerance than light skinned or white people. If you have black skin, proper care can keep you looking your best, if not, signs of skin damage can show up on you later in life.

1Step

Moisturize your skin daily. Black skin tends to be dry, often appearing ashy when overly dry. The University of Pittsburgh explains that a lubricating facial moisturizer that contains humectants is ideal for the black skin. Humectants attract water, keeping your skin soft and supple. If your skin is oily, choose an oil-free cleanser that won’t clog your pores.

2Step

Wash your skin daily with a moisturizing body wash. “Look for ingredients such as glycerin, urea, hyaluronic acid or dimethicone. Apply the body wash with a clean washcloth or shower puff. Use a separate facial cleanser in the morning and at night to remove cosmetics and keep your pores clear.

3Step

Scrub skin with a gritty substance to remove the dead surface layer. Black skin is prone to roughness and bumps, caused by a buildup of dead skin cells. If your skin is dry or thin, exfoliate once a week. Oily or combination skin types should exfoliate two to three times a week. An exfoliation cream or shower loofah can help make skin smoother.

4Step

Protect your skin from the sun with everyday sunscreen especially if you’re going to be stepping out into the sun with an SPF of 15 or higher. You should also be informed that because your skin is dark does not mean that the sun is harmless. In fact, black skin is not immune to wrinkling and skin cancer, according to Ohio State University Extension.

5Step

Eating healthy and drinking at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water every day, a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, proteins and whole grains will keep your skin glowing from the inside out.

These are some of the things that would be useful for your type of skin. Care for your skin perfectly so you can have the flawless look at all times.

Body Moisturizer, Face Moisturizer, Body wash, Facial cleanser, Exfoliation cream or shower loofah, and Sunscreen

Tips: If you know you have a sensitive face, choose a moisturizer specifically designed for the skin on your face, and use a separate cream for your body. At least, working out 30 minutes daily will also help to keep your skin healthy and toned.

You should know and learn to avoid shortcuts into caring for your skin plus don’t try and be someone else. Bleaching shouldn’t be an option at all. Don’t try to be someone else by copying their skin tone because yours is as sweet as perfect.
